Orphan Care is very close to the heart of River Stone. Many in our church family have adopted, fostered kids, worked in orphanages around the world, volunteered locally, or helped raise money for orphan care related causes. The Marathon for Adoption is a great way to invest in Orphan Care. Race teams are formed to raise money for families in the process of adoption. By participating in either the half of full marathon, you can invest in the rescue of the fatherless. The organizers of the event work hard to raise support through sponsorship so that the registration fees go straight into the adoption funds. If you are a runner, or want to become one, maybe you want to run in the Marathon for Adoption. The registration price increases on September 1st, so jump in while you can!
River Stone will also be sponsoring a water table to encourage and hydrate the participants. They told us that our table last year was one of the best, and we’d like to continue that tradition. We’ll need volunteers to show up at 6:00am to man our water table. If you would like to help out with that, please e-mail us (email@example.com). The race is Saturday, October 29th. If you surf around the website, you’ll see a lot of familiar faces. This is a very significant event for our church family, and we love to support it any way we can.
Additionally, the following families are all in the process of adoption and have teams formed in the race:
- The Coriells
- The Guenthers
- The McGlothlins
- The Tanseys
Any of these families would love to have your involvement, support, and prayers. You can sign up for their teams when you register. You can also e-mail the link above if you have any questions that the marathon website doesn’t answer. Over $100,000 was raised for orphan care last year, and we’re praying this year would be even more.
