The mentoring program is still a work in progress, but what a joy it has been to see a total of 48 kids at Travis Elementary being matched with a mentor the past few months! We are so thankful for those who have been willing to mentor, and will continue into this semester.
One mentor who has been meeting up with her “Little Buddy” since November said, “I would encourage others to get involved in the mentoring program, because it’s too easy not to. My 30 minutes with my little buddy flies by and I always enjoy taking a break from work to go visit her. It’s very low-pressure to just spend a few minutes once a week to hear about someone’s life and ask questions. I think more people would get involved if they knew how simple it is to share love with a child who just needs someone to be interested and consistent in their lives.”
Do you have 30 minutes – 1 hours a week you can dedicate to investing in a child? 30 minutes can make a difference. That is it. There is a huge need for mentors (especially male mentors!) to commit to spending time consistently with a child at Travis Elementary on a weekly basis. To be exact, we are looking for 55 more…Can you be one of them? If interested or have questions, don’t hesitate to contact firstname.lastname@example.org
“AN INVOLVED MENTOR CAN SHOW A CHILD HOW TO REDUCE THE POWER OF ‘WHERE I’VE BEEN’ AND INCREASE THE POWER OF ‘WHERE I’M GOING’.”
